I'm here to talk about the movie, Mahaan.
Let's talk in detail about the Amazon Prime release, Mahaan starring Vikram, Dhruv Vikram, Bobby Simha, Simran, etc.
Let's start with the positives as usual.
The first positive is Bobby Simha and Vikram.
I am marking the performances even by the order in which I said that.
Both of them are excellent and Bobby Simha's character has a clear character graph.
He has performed well inside that and Vikram as usual gives out a mind-blowing performance.
Simran's character lacked the space for performance but
she has done her part very well just like everyone else.
The movie lacked momentum after the introduction of Dhruv Vikram.
In many scenes where he is having dialogues, they showed the face of Vikram.
He doesn't seem to be a complete success in delivering the dialogues with expression.
But as an upcoming star, he has done a decent job.
Every other actor has tried their best performances.
The second positive is the visuals and colour grading.
The movie travels through different periods and we are watching a whole life.
The story goes beautifully forward without giving us a space to think of the specificities.
The visuals have a great role in that.
The next positive is the background score and songs.
It might not be the best to date but we could feel the freshness somehow.
We will move forward with that and I started observing the background score more towards the end.
Anyway, the visuals and background score have attempted to treat us well with the freshness.
The next positive is the fights and fireworks. They have enough of these in the movie.
The movie isn't filled with fights and gunshots but the ones in the movie are well made.
There is another important positive. Usually in a superstar movie,
there would be a romantic track and a couple of songs shot in foreign locations.
But here they haven't included an unnecessary character like that.
The number of scenes where the hero easily defeats the well-trained fighters is also less.
There are scenes like that but it's less in number.
Another positive is the climax twist.
It's not a first of its kind or never seen before the twist. It feels good to watch that.
Towards the end, the movie ends somewhere which I never expected.
That gave me an exciting feeling about the movie as it has grown beyond my expectations.
Cinema has an okayish climax like that.
Now let's talk about the negetives.
While we watched the teaser, trailer, and posters, Mahaan gave the feeling of a mind-blowing mass movie.
But the movie wasn't enormous as I expected it to be.
It's a good movie but neither the story nor the characters are growing beyond the screen.
The second thing is the explanations given in the movie about right and wrong.
I have my disagreements at certain points.
We would need an explanation video to speak about that in detail.
I am including those disagreements along with the negatives.
The third negetive is about the father-son track.
That portion is the most hyped-up one of the movie but I felt the movie lagging in that portion.
There were attempts to build up emotions but that wasn't felt.
Another negative is the story of this movie.
It feels like the story of a Malayalam gangster movie in the Prem Naseer-Jayan-Madhu-Sathyan, Soman-Sukumaran era.
I am not claiming that the story is a copied subject.
But as a viewer, the movie hasn't given me satisfaction beyond that.
So in total, Mahaan is an attempt to make an old story interesting with some fresh elements and stardom masalas.
I am not recommending Mahaan as a must-watch movie but watch it if you have time.
